Meet Kayce

I'm a wedding photographer, but I'm also a daughter, sister, aunt, cat mom, storyteller, wannabe-interior designer who has a tiny (okay...very big) obsession with Joanna Gaines!

I enjoy writing and sharing the knowledge that I've learned over the years in the wedding industry with not only my brides, but anyone who wants an extra hand to hold during this amazing season!

I hope you love reading the blog, seeing our work and grab lots of helpful tips along the way!

I’m doing something a little different on this engagement session! A little Q&A with the BRIDE! <3 How did you meet? Believe it or not, we met in first grade. We were in the same class, and we were already a familiar face to each other due to after school activities. Had it not been […]

Coastal Ocean Springs Engagement Session

Winter Engagement Session in Ocean Springs & Biloxi

We can’t wait to share these images from Haley & Ross’s Engagement Session!

Our day started in downtown Ocean Springs, which is a perfect backdrop for any occasion if you ask me! The second location was the White House Hotel in Biloxi. I knew when I saw Haley’s outfit choices that we needed this to be our second stop! I was so happy when Haley said that they loved both ideas.

So enough with me… I asked Haley if she would mind sharing their story and she agreed! It’s much better 😉

Engagement story

Ross and I met in college our sophomore year in our chemistry lab. After a few classes, Ross would meet me in the chem lab before class to help me with my homework and the rest is history! Ever since then, we have been apart of each other’s lives. We started out just being friends during college, went to a few date parties, and it wasn’t until after college we actually started dating. After quite some years, Ross was cooking dinner one night and I had just gotten back from the gym and he rushed me to go take a shower, having candles lit and wine poured. This was not extremely out of the ordinary, but I had a feeling something was up. The whole time I was showering I thought “ Should I put on makeup and fix my hair?” “What if I am reading this wrong?” “Is he really about to propose?!” I always told him I did not want a big to-do proposal; just wanted me and him. So we sat down to eat, no makeup or hair fixed lol, and once we were done Ross pulled the little box out of his pocket that I thought I had seen, and popped the question! Even after all the signs, I was so surprised!

It was perfect, just me, him, and our dog Drake. We then called all our family and friends and have been celebrating and planning ever since!!

My ring story

Quite some months back before the proposal, Ross had asked if I had an idea of a ring I would like if he were to ever propose. I quickly said, yep! I will send you the picture lol so I sent a picture of a gold ring (I have alwayssss been a gold jewelry girl) that had a cushion cut diamond. In the picture was also a wedding band that had baguettes. I told him I loved the ring but wanted baguettes down the side of the band of the ring. Without my knowledge, he and his mom, who also loves jewelry as much as me, so I knew I was in great hands, went to the jewelry store that my family has used for years with the pictures. With the help of his mom and the sweet ladies at Shelton’s Jewelry, they designed the perfect ring! It is more than I could have ever wanted and I will cherish it forever!

Wedding planning

Since the night we got engaged, our families immediately started asking “When’s the wedding?!” as they were just as excited as we were! So we knew that we wanted to get married at the Catholic Church we attend weekly, St. James Catholic Church, so that was my first call. I also knew I couldn’t plan a wedding by spring and did not want to get married in the summer, so we asked for several dates in October/November. Once the church gave me several options, there were two other must-haves we knew we wanted: the Slavonian Lodge for a reception and our wonderful photographer, Kayce Stork.

Ross and I have been in several weddings where Kayce was the photographer as well as she photographed my Mardi Gras ball the prior year where Ross helped as her second shooter due to hers being sick, so she was a must-have! So, we presented those dates to the lodge and Kayce, and picked a mutual one between the church, the lodge, and Kayce and came up with October 23, 2021. Ever since then, we have been slowly calling and booking all of our vendors we will be having to help us with the perfect weekend! We make it a point to plan/call/book almost one vendor a week so it is not so much at once and this has worked for us thus far. We cannot wait to celebrate with everyone in October!!

Ross was an awesome assistant, by the way! ;-) Thank y’all for having us! We can’t wait to celebrate with you! -Kayce

Engagement Portraits in Pass Christian | Mississippi Wedding Photographers

Anyone who’s followed me for any length of time knows how much I love to talk about my couples! I can tell you ten things I like about them right after meeting them even, BUT I knew I wanted to bring in new ideas for my blog this year. As I was writing down my goals and plans, the thought occurred to me that maybe readers would like to see the story of a couple from the bride/groom standpoint instead of me being the one to tell their story. SOOOO.. here we go!!
This is Emily and Andrew <3 We will be working with them in the Fall of 2020 for their wedding in Pass Christian! Trevor and I are so happy to be able to serve them during this exciting time!
How did you meet?
Emily: “Andrew and I have been dating since we were in high school! He was a junior and I was a sophomore. My best friend Caroline – now Matron of Honor – had known him for years because they were from the same town. One day over Christmas break she called and asked if I wanted to get lunch. After eating, a few of her guy friends texted her asking if she wanted to meet up to play tennis. She convinced me to go with her and I watched from the side while the group of about four played. It started to get late so Andrew offered to give us a ride home. Little did I know he was full of jokes and pranks because, on the way there, he called his parents and asked if we could come by for dinner before bringing us home. He pretended they had said no on the phone and preceded to drive all the way to Caroline’s house. When we pulled up, we started to get out of the car and he yells “I’m just kidding!!! Get back in!!” So the same day I met Andrew I actually met his family, too! Right away I knew he had a charm about him and a sense of humor that always kept people laughing. The next day, he asked Caroline for my number just so he could text me accusing me of stealing his Burt’s Bees chapstick that he so loved…. and the rest is history!”
When did you know he/she was the one?
Emily: “I always knew he was something special but not long after we started dating, my aunt (who was like a grandmother to me) passed away. Andrew and my friend Caroline showed up at the funeral completely unexpectedly. I remember being so incredibly happy to see him there. He had a heart of gold and that is what I wanted in a significant other!”
How did he ask you to marry him?
Emily: “Andrew went above and beyond with the proposal. The week of the proposal, he told me that his family would be going out to dinner with his sister and her “new boyfriend.” At the time, I was temporarily living in New Orleans with a friend so he had to throw in the request to bring a nice outfit because the place would be fancy! We spent the whole day on Saturday shopping and going to the movies. Then he told me to meet him at his house at 6 o’clock sharp. When I got there, everyone said we were waiting for his sister to get home to go to the restaurant. As time passed, his cousin called to say she was having “car trouble” and needed help. So we both got in the car and headed down to what he kept referring to as the “old city hall.” It still did not hit me where exactly that was until we pulled up. The old city hall was right next to the town’s tennis courts where we first met. He got down on one knee in front of a big beautiful oak tree and asked me to marry him. It was the most thoughtful proposal in the most meaningful place for us! To top it off, he planned a surprise party at a local restaurant afterward – he called all of our friends and had them come to town from all over. Friends and family were all waiting for us to come through the doors and we celebrated all night!”
Were you totally surprised or have a tiny clue what he was up to?
Emily: “A mixture of both! Once I started to get a little suspicious, I didn’t want to get my hopes up and assume if it really wasn’t happening yet. I was completely shocked at the amount of preparation that went into the entire weekend and was so surprised to see all of my close friends!!”
What has been the most exciting thing about planning your wedding?
Emily: “Meeting with the wedding planner to decide on a vision and location for the venue was an exciting first step! The next most exciting thing about planning was dress shopping with my mom – it was way easier than I expected and I fell in love with the first dress I tried on!”
I can’t thank you enough, Emily, for sharing your story!
I hope you guys love the different feel of this blog <3
