Key Mistakes to Avoid When Booking a Wedding Venue
It’s totally understandable that you want to dive into the wedding planning process once you get engaged to the love of your life. However, before you start spending your wedding budget, here are a few things you shouldn’t do until you’ve secured a venue.
1: Sending Your Save the Dates
You might have decided on a wedding date, but this doesn’t mean that your venue will have that specific date available. By securing a venue first, you’re also free to include a location in your save the date and it will make it easier to choose a design that matches the theme of your venue.
2: Booking Vendors Too Soon
If you have your heart set on a venue, you should definitely make sure the venue is booked before securing your other vendors!
3: Deciding on Wedding Colors
It’s okay to have an idea of your wedding colors, but don’t start spending money on décor and other items until you secure a venue. You might think you know whether the colors will work with a venue but you can’t be absolutely sure until you see it in person and do a tour!
4: Buying Your Dress
You may have spotted your dream ballgown but if you happen to book a beach venue, your dress might not work and you may end up having to sell your dress and buy a new one – not ideal, right!? The same applies to your shoes. You may have found the perfect pair of heels but the last thing you want is to sink into grass throughout your ceremony, hold off on this purchase until your venue has been selected.
5: Choosing Outfits for Your Wedding Party
Like the others mentioned above, you might have an idea of what you want, but hold off until you know your venue is selected and you have a clear vision of what you want your big day to be before deciding on styles, colors, etc.
