Favorite’s Friday is here again!
You guys know I’m a Southern girl who loves anything with a timeless feel and this bridal portrait session with Cassie was just that!
Cassie’s bridal session was even featured on “I do y’all!” *insert happy dance*
Your Friday tip is below! (You didn’t think I’d forget, did you!?)
Question: “What information do you need before the wedding?”
Two weeks before the big day, I like to sit down and go through the wedding from start to finish with my couples, asking several questions along the way. While I ask many questions before the wedding, the following three are an absolute must.
The first question I normally ask isn’t always specifically about the couple themselves but about the family.
1: “Are there any special situations we should be aware of? Such as divorced parents, or grandparents? Friction between family members? A loss of a parent, grandparent, or sibling?”
Knowing just these three questions can save all of us very awkward, or sad moments. No one wants either of those on your wedding day, including your vendors.
2: “Are there any special touches you want to tell us about?”
While we do our best to document all that we can on the wedding day, if there are special touches that we may not know about, we would love to hear about them.
For instance, two years ago I had a bride mention to me that a friend, who couldn’t attend the wedding, had given her a pendant that she planned to use on her bouquet. While I can’t say I wouldn’t have noticed it, I was able to give it a special focus because the bride made me aware of it. I was later told that she was so happy to see the photo and be able to share it. And who doesn’t love happy clients, right!?
3: “What aspect of photography is most important to you?”
Are you most concerned with the photos from your ceremony? Are you most looking forward to the shots of the two of you and your families? Are you most excited about the candids at the reception? Let your photographer know what you are most concerned with.
Of course we understand you want your wedding story told from start to finish, but if we know what matters most we can plan our timeline to best serve our awesome couples.
Communication is just one of the keys to having the wedding of your dreams! As a photographer, I hope these tips are a helping you in being prepared for the planning that lies ahead!
