I'm a follower of Christ, wife, mother, published wedding photographer, sweet tea enthusiast and I adore all things weddings.

Together, my husband, business partner + favorite hand to hold, Trevor, and I make Kayce Stork Photography + Films.

I enjoy writing here on our online journal and sharing the knowledge that I've learned over the years in the wedding industry with not only my couples, but anyone who want an extra hand to hold during this amazing, yet busy season of life!

In my career, I've photographed everything from precious newborns to a past United States President, but my passion and focus has been for the wedding industry for over the past 10 years. I truly love this calling and feel blessed each day!

Grab a sweet tea, or your drink of choice, and take a look around.

7 Things Your Wedding Florist Wants You to Know

Flowers can really bring a wedding to life but before you start sending your Pinterest board ideas to your favorite florist, here are a couple of things you should definitely keep in mind.

  1. Consider what’s in season. You may have your heart set on very specific flowers but keep in mind that if they aren’t in season, you’re going to have to increase your floral budget. It’s always best to have some other seasonal options available too.
  2. Your pricing isn’t based on the fact that it’s your wedding. Many people will tell you that florists hike up the prices because it’s a wedding but this isn’t the case. It’s important to remember the time and effort that goes into creating bouquets and centerpieces.
  3. Keep the environment in mind. When you choose to work with florists that use local gardeners, you’re reducing the amount of gas and electricity that will be required to make your flowers last. Organic flowers always last longer.
  4. DIY is harder than you think. You may be completely convinced that you could put your own bouquet together but it’s actually much harder than you think. Plus, do you really want to have to deal with the stress of your bouquet not turning out the way you had hoped for?
  5. Make sure your flower choices won’t clash. Consider your wedding décor, bridesmaid dresses, and your own dress before you go ahead and choose your flowers. If your venue is already very colorful, opt for simple colors that won’t be overpowering on the eye.
  6. Get creative. Flowers don’t need to be over the top to be beautiful. Take the time to use flowers creatively such as adding them to your cake. Think outside the box if you want to incorporate flowers into your day but not spend too much money on them either.
  7. Trust your florist. Your florist understands that this is your day and you have a very specific idea in mind but it’s very important to remember that florists often have to be flexible. It’s best to make peace with the fact that there is a chance your florist will need to make substitutions. You are sharing your vision with your florist so trust that they will know how to bring this to life, even if they need to make some minor changes.
