I'm a follower of Christ, wife, mother, published wedding photographer, sweet tea enthusiast and I adore all things weddings.

Together, my husband, business partner + favorite hand to hold, Trevor, and I make Kayce Stork Photography + Films.

I enjoy writing here on our online journal and sharing the knowledge that I've learned over the years in the wedding industry with not only my couples, but anyone who want an extra hand to hold during this amazing, yet busy season of life!

In my career, I've photographed everything from precious newborns to a past United States President, but my passion and focus has been for the wedding industry for over the past 10 years. I truly love this calling and feel blessed each day!

Why do a Bridal Session in South Mississippi – Part One

Tips

January 28, 2017

back to blog

I hear the question ALL the time! “Kayce, aren’t Bridal Sessions a little outdated? Are they really worth doing anymore?”

Okay… I could give you a quick answer – a simple “Yes” or a simple “No”, but I’m not going to do that. Instead I am going to explain the reason(s) I love Bridal Sessions. This is a lengthy answer so I will be writing three blog posts to show you the top reasons that a bridal session is a must! First, let’s start with reason #1, shall we?

#1. Timeline

Over the last 6 years of photographing weddings here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast I’ve noticed that so many brides seem to dread the word above. You know… timeline.

Whether you’re a laid back bride or a hands on bride, a Wedding Day Timeline is so important for making your day run as smoothly as possible.

Contrary to popular belief, a timeline doesn’t limit the day or put a kink in the hose. Your timeline ensures things go in order. Now, does this timeline mean I, as the Photographer, will be forced to rush through the day with little to no creativity? NO! No, it certainly doesn’t, but it does keep me on track. I’m always remembering in the back of my mind all the “must have” shots, as well as the creativity I bring when you allow me to have such a special part of your day.

While we are talking about timelines, here’s where I will share with you why I love Bridal Sessions!

A Bridal Session gives me up to TWO hours with a bride, just for her photos. That’s two hours I get to spend one on one with my bride for her formals, with no interruptions. We get to focus all of our attention on her, and the details. Details like the way her bangs lie, we have time for her to wear her hair around her shoulders, pulled over to one side, with the veil, or without, makeup touchups, a little mix of traditional portraiture and bring in a flair of creativity that compliments the bride’s personality!

On average my Bridal Sessions never walk away with less than 40 portraits to choose from and at several locations, also!

Below you will see some shots from Amanda’s Bridal Session.

Amanda was married in the Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Her reception followed at The Grand Magnolia, also in Pascagoula. We knew we wanted to incorporate both of these locations, no doubt.

We started at the Church which you can see below:

Our last stop was the Grand Magnolia Ballroom for both some indoor and outdoor photos! I loved the elegance and southern charm that this location has.

These just give a glimpse of the beautiful day Amanda and I had in Downtown Pascagoula.

I hope you’ve enjoyed the read, as well as the portraits!

Feel free to leave a comment below and stay tuned for our reason number two you should choose a Bridal Session!
